We Found Big Stars and Celebs in Anza-Borrego Desert

Stars in the desert

We went on a weekend road trip in our van to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, our distant wonderland in the middle of nowhere.

Imagine the scene… a Western-themed RV park and hotel in California.

We passed this RV park while visiting before, so this time, we booked a stay there. Luckily, we did this before the park closed for the season.

Why do they close?

Well… it’s just way too hot in the summer.

We pulled up to the place full of filming trucks and trailers. Who was out in the middle of the desert filming?

“It’s probably Leonardo DiCaprio,” I joked. We watch many of his movies, so his name came to mind.

After we checked in, we parked in our reserved spot. Only a couple of other vehicle campers parked in the RV park.

The Hollywood filming brigade took up most of the RV park.

As we left our van for an early evening stroll, a filming crew member hopped out of a truck and complimented us on our van.

He told us they were filming a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio and other actors, and he had a van similar to ours. The crew member described it, and we saw it.

“There are a lot of big stars and celebrities filming this movie,” he said, rattling off a few more names.

What?!

Well, they say you can see stars better in the desert—Ha!

Seriously, though, you can see those kinds of stars too. But I’m saving that for another story.

The odds—In Anza-Borrego Desert?

My mystic powers must have called that one. “How did I know he was filming out here?” I laughed.

I really didn’t.

This was pure coincidence. I mentioned his name at Anza-Borrego Desert, and he came in the flesh.

Did I see him up close and personal? No.

The police had blocked off the road, but we could have sneaked a little hike to the filming lights in the distance. I would have played it off.

Hey guys! What’s going on over here? Oh wow… fancy seeing you all in the desert! Mind if I sit down and watch?

It’s funny how we decided to flee the city and go somewhere in the middle of the desert. We thought we’d leave the city’s action-packed drama far behind.

And star-gaze. But not that kind of star-gazing…

I don’t keep up with celebrity news, but I’d down to watch some great movies. Many talented artists roam this earth, and I like that.

Stars and celebs everywhere

I’ve run into a few celebrities in my lifetime—in restaurants, sporting events, or even at the mall. What a small world… right?

I don’t know why finding an actor in the desert should surprise me. They film movies all over the world.

The odds… how funny…

You’ll never know where you’ll find someone. The more you leave the house, the greater the odds… right?

But hey, it’s pretty funny to camp out in Anza-Borrego Desert with a filming crew and stars.

Who have you run into in the middle of nowhere or wherever else under the sun? I’d like to hear your stories.
