A couple of years ago, when the byline for Luna in Orbit flashed in my mind, I had no doubts about using it.
Traveling through life telling stories.
Ah, that explained it all. It encompassed what I’d blog about.
Originally, I decided to write reflections on growth and hardship, and share stories (mine and others’).
But then I took a detour and decided to post about my travel adventures. And I still plan to do that.
A friend encouraged me to go back to sharing my stories and reflections. She told me that while not everyone travels, people can relate to life experiences.
Well, I’ve been through a lot. Many of us have.
I’ve experienced joy and happiness. I had great relationships, made it through graduate school, landed the ideal job, bought the house, and have visited places I’ve seen in magazines.
I’ve celebrated the big achievements, small accomplishments, and the simple, peaceful days.
But my life has not been easy or perfect by any means. I’ve had a lot of struggles.
Some of the not-so-pretty things I’ve dealt with are heartbreak, grief, betrayal, debt, defeat, loneliness, and confusion. I’ve physically and emotionally gone to places I’d never want to set foot on again.
As tempting as it is, I wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy.
I’ve sat in the pain, sadness, and disappointment that come when you’re trudging through the middle of a terrible storm that doesn’t seem to end.
And I’ve learned that it’s not about the trials and tribulations the world throws at you, it’s how you handle them.
Everyone is going to experience adversity. We differ in what we do with the curveballs life throws at us.
You can catch them, dodge them, or get hit head-on.
Know that there’s always someone out there who is going through what you’re going through. You’re not alone.
Whether it’s about relationships, career, personal growth, or life in general, we deal with these things every day.
So, back to traveling. Traveling through life is about life’s journey.
Traveling is also a physical journey for me. I love exploring, and it’s a way for me to find adventure in the world.
In both my life’s journey and in my travels around the world, I’ve been to many beautiful places. I am so grateful for that.
And storytelling, well, that’s what I do. I think I have a little knack for it.
So I welcome you to come along on the journey. Come for the real talk, or check out where I’ve been.
Don’t be shy. Comment. Share your story.
And one last thing — I’m so glad you’re here!
